Someone Who Needs To Be Loved

poem/song about religious trauma

(not my artwork - if it's yours, please message me and I'll credit you)

if you're pushing me over the edge

hoping I'll reach for god again...

you better hope that I don't drown

because I'll haunt you till your own end.

/

everytime I think

you're pulling me out of the water

you're pushing my head

sinking me further under

/

I'm not a soul to save

I'm not a sinner who needs to pray

I'm not a broken thing

I'm someone who needs to be loved.

/

if you're pushing me to rock bottom

hoping I'll believe in your bullshit again...

I can't be gaslighted like I once was...

So spare me your guilt trips and hymns.

/

every scripture verse

is a dagger to my heart.

you think you're saving me from hell

but you're ripping me apart!

/

I'm not a soul to save

I'm not a sinner who needs to pray

I'm not a broken thing

I'm someone who needs to be loved.

/

I'm someone real,

Made of flesh and blood.

But a god in your own mind

Is more worthy of your love!

/

I'm not a soul to save

I'm not a sinner who needs to pray

I'm not a broken thing

I'm someone who needs to be loved.
