Some Haiku for Winter
a collection of seasonal poems
Wisps of fog linger
Like puffy ghosts in the air.
Can this be winter?
❄
A thin film of ice
Now covers the pond's surface,
And the ducks fall through.
❄
Why are you still here
With leaves already fallen?
What silly lost geese!
❄
They say snow's coming,
Mountains of powdery snow.
Hm, we may yet see.
❄
The pond's still surface
Today remained quite frozen.
Many birds have flown.
❄
A creature of snow,
Stones for eyes and sticks for hands,
Now guards the back door.
❄
The roads are icy,
And in the shadows of night,
They are dangerous.
❄
A fit of damp snow;
A spinning car on the road.
Driving in winter.
❄
Winter moon so bright,
Why burn brilliant and cold?
Your cool stare freezes.
❄
Snow falls like kisses;
Ten thousand against my face
As I walk alone.
