some days are harder than others

I’m barely alive

Opening my eyes

Only long enough to cry

Stinging tears

From all the years

Of pain

And a poisoned fate

Spat onto me

By those who hate

Barely an ounce of love

Over four decades

Isn’t quite enough

To get out of bed

So here I will lie

On this moulding mattress

instead

With aching bones

And flaking skin

Malnourished

From two years of

Prison

I felt every word of this. Very relateable, very raw. Powerful stuff!
