How to Vanish

A vanishing act like no other -

Here's how it starts.

First you wobble -

a bump in the road, a misstep on the path,

then you tumble.

And when you stand,

the crowd is a few steps ahead...

And they call back,

urge you on.

But haste is clumsy and you stumble.

Rinse and repeat,

and fall further behind,

cursing your heavy feet

each and every time...

Until those erstwhile friends are gone.

So far ahead, hidden behind bends,

that you can't catch their scent.

And the new faces are strange,

and no one knows your name.

Foot by foot - you vanish.

This is so heartbreaking yet so relatable. Beautiful, but sad - a great take on the challenge, SA!

I could feel anxiety creeping up as swear I've dreamt something like this where I just can't catch up to someone. On the bigger life scale, your words really hit home.
