Alone, not lonely

“arcen’t you lonely?” they ask me

“I’m sorry, what?” I answered

I’m too busy in my world

That I can’t even form a word

~

There may be days that it can get lonely

and I can live with that

But not being a friend to myself

Not listening to the voice within

That I definitely can not live with

~

They may think it’s lonely

As I’m gazed by eyes of pity

As if my world is empty

And theirs is a big city

~

I may try to explain

And I will if given the chance

But what’s with the chance

If they’re full of arrogance?

~

I don’t know how to explain to them that I love being with me

I love that I don’t want to be drowned by their words

That I don’t have the pressure to fill in the gaps of their silence

and that all I want to be is in the silence in between

~

How can I tell them that being alone brings out the best company — yourself?

Very deep words. Ourself is indeed the best company.

Love how you embrace being your own best company! It's like saying, "I’m good with me," and that’s a vibe. So chill and real.

  • Omgggg, I related soooo hard with this! I honestly don't want anyone and am perfectly happy with my own company. Loved your poem!
