solo applause

a tribute to words never read

standing feebly

miles away from a cause

I hope to give a solo applause

paying tribute to stories barely read

and the hours authors

spent alone in their stead

for a writer's work never stays done

time spent in the mind and on the run

so please allow my humble attempt

to push a narrative of owed reverence

choosing paths, most adamantly abstain

weighed down by wearing insomnia’s chain

I keep my thoughts on a stunning view

words pouring out now libations too

regarding words egregiously ignored

sore hands along with ink never spilled before

heartfelt confession, the world never sees

and mediums sacrificed to weep while it bleeds

maybe we just steal our own sanity

a secret we hope to keep safe from the thieves’

I guess if overthinking’s a sickness

authors keep our worst diseases within us

I hope we all get well soon
