Soft

Tempered then Annealed

By BrenPublished 3 years ago 1 min read

my harsh and sharp edges

have been smoothed

and rounded

my calloused roughness

filed and brushed away

soft

those parts of me

i once thought of

as my armour,

my shield

lost

to the tracts

of times

soft

now i’m pliable

(like lead)

approachable

(as i said)

responsible

(i never dared)

and coachable

(don’t think i cared)

soft

another me

stands in my place

casting a similar shadow

soft

another me

wears the lines of my face

better than i ever did

soft

another me

fell from grace

and still falling

to this day

soft

another me

just keeping pace

and as

the light fades

it too becomes

soft
