Society's Hunchback
A Dramatic Free Verse - Words and Color Abstracts

I'm done looking at the mirror mother gave me
One with the clearest surface able to show the cracks all over me
I sewed my own wings made up of good deeds that left me dead
It always, always took awhile to undo dying
It took years of tying and untying shoelaces
both mine and of others.
Can you imagine?
A dead man trying to live by scraping his own back with what the world threw at him?
There was once a healthy kid who was good at catching balls. She figured the Game of Life is most fulfilling when played with a team.
What to do?
Good throws are easy to catch so she let it pass her. She focused on the bad ones. Bad ones - throws that needed chasing leaving you with bruises. To win she must ensure no balls will touch the ground.
One day the balls stopped coming. She's about to jump for victory but there's no one behind her. People leave after a good throw. She's all alone carrying the other balls.
She's happy, they won.
Are you?
