So Well
a poem
Photo by Isabella Fischer on Unsplash
You whip
that iced milk
into foam
so well, Chef.
Boss.
That icey on the cake.
Suds come
over. Flow
the bowl.
Fill up the
eggs with
that whip mix
you work out
so well.
So close,
the firm peak
of foam.
Take it to the edge.
Make it
gum - pop!
Make it
nice. Make me feel
new.
Make it love.
Add all
your ‘shug,’
your ‘hon,’
you say ‘baby.’
Tell a man to beat it in a bowl.
Give it
glow and glit
from want and wish,
ache and need,
with zest and zeal.
That cake! Oh, that cake.
Work in
that jam.
Work out
that rise.
Oh, work it.
Get it.
Oh, you work it.
You work it.
You work it, so well.
