Years ago, when I was just a child. Spending time with cousins was wild.

We went sledding on an old car hood. Some of us stood.

There was ice cream made of snow. My little siblings in tow.

We made snow snakes and played games. I am better at my aims.

As children, we couldn't wait for Santa to arrive. I was only five.

I had my tonsils out that year. I shed more than a few tears.

All the winter fun helped to keep my mind elsewhere.

We spent so much time outdoors and I never wanted to be anywhere

else. Thinking back brings me so much peace and serenity.

It was a great way to spend my fifth year of life restfully and pleasantly.

Wow, this poem is absolutely beautiful! You have captured the innocence and joy of childhood winters in such a vivid and heartfelt way. The imagery of sledding on an old car hood, making snow snakes, and the mention of ice cream made of snowβ€”it's all so nostalgic. I could feel the excitement and warmth of those moments despite the cold. Truly magical! You’ve done an amazing job bringing these childhood moments to life. I can’t help but smile thinking about my own experiences. Absolutely brilliant work....I think you are a great poet. Go checkout my latest piece and do let me know if you relate to it
