Snake in the Grass

And other lies she told me

Have you ever had a friend who is sucking the life out of you?

We sit at the bar as we talk for hours about endless nothings.

Our jobs, boys, the weather, our next drink.

It feels real in that moment, it feels connected.

All I want is to be connected.

But you don't.

Your seat at the bar is for clout.

The way you flip your hair over your shoulder is for attention.

The focus you are giving my

plea for advice isn't so I might feel a bit better about the

20 insecurities trying to ruin my night

again.

Your laughter at my stories is loud on purpose

and it isn't for me.

Friendship
