a part of me, mingles with the worms, in the soil
my history and more, feeds the trees
where ash and root strengthen, waiting to unfurl
another loose theory of six degrees
connected together, a curious pair
from birth, till I'm laid six feet under
shelter and nourishment, beyond compare
a lineage of magic and wonder
for generations my bloodline, has soddened the earth
and those branches provide my exigency
this guardianship is shared, back and forth
making us much more than family
giving the old adage, "the family tree"
something a bit deeper to ponder
if I am part of the tree and it's part of me
it makes nature much harder to squander
deepening our roots into this mixture of love
providing the support to flourish
spreading our branches, reaching to the sky above
until the whole world is refurbished

The pace made the words so much nicer to the ear. You took us below the soil, gave us cool facts, and mingled with nature the way it likes to mingle with us. I like the playfulness within your words and your word choices, too: Soddened Exigency Squander This was lovely; I feel so much more grounded after reading it. 🤗🖤❤️
Your imagery is stunning. The blend of soil, roots lineage and connection gives this poem such soulful depth.
To see one in nature has to be one great feeling and you show this in this poem. Great job.
Splendid imagery! Great entry, Kelli.
