Slow Evening on the Porch

To destress and recharge

By Seema PatelPublished 9 months ago 1 min read

Don’t be so busy

that you can’t sit on your porch

in the wooden lounge chair,

free of your devices,

to just breathe,

for a slow, lazy evening,

to watch the canopy

of crepe myrtle,

to bask in the fragrance

of the colorful roses,

to appreciate the succulents,

to see the finches pecking

at the bird feeder,

to watch the cotton-tail rabbits

grazing on the lawn,

to wave a warm 'Hi'

to a neighbor walking his dog,

to see the homebound crows

after the sunset,

to just sit, sip ginger tea,

recharge, declutter,

destress, feel nostalgic

to practice mindfulness,

gratitude and to

just contemplate life.
