I've been, I've been

I've been

thinking

way too much

I've been, I've been

I've been

pond'ring

so damn much

the status we award hope

is a blessing and a curse

the status we award hope

leads to stressing, a hearse

#

Hope—

isn't always big and profound

Hope—

isn't always proud and loud

Hope—

is a simple—little trick

Hope—

is a little—fucking hack

#

a con to play a part

not big, profound

a sleight of hand

not proud, loud

to rewire your heart

—simple little trick

to cheat your mind

—little fucking hack

=

into the belief

with the relief

that better days

are on the way

#

don't overthink

don't overwrought

it's not an epoch

until its an epoch

#

Work—

it takes, but

rest and lay

Work—

it takes, but

just don't

stay

stationary

#

It may not come tomorrow

and may not come today

It may come with sorrow

and pain in your way

#

hope

will—

see you through

hope

will—

pull you through

hope

is—

what you make of it

hope

is—

saying you won't quit

“ It may not come tomorrow and may not come today It may come with sorrow and pain in your way” so very true! Great stream of consciousness piece, Paul!

This is raw, rhythmic, and resonant! The interplay between hope as a "little hack" and its profound ability to pull us through is genius. The flow mirrors the struggle—chaotic, determined, and unapologetically real. A gritty ode to resilience. Bravo! :)

We all need to have hope in our writing as well as other facets of our lives. Good job.

"Hope is the thing with feathers That perches in the soul" -Emily Dickinson Better to hope for something ultimately unrealized than to hopelessly succumb to the horror, for in the former case potential remains where in the latter all is lost before it can even begin. Well-wrought!

I loved this! Calling hope a "little fucking hack" is probably the most honest look at hope that I've seen in writing in a long time. Great poem and great message!

  • This was very "hopeful" hehehehe. Loved your poem! 🍩🥐

You nailed this one Paul - 1000 percent. I think hope is what keeps us going even when we want to give up. Felt brighter for reading this - it was a belter.

I love this Paul! Another great poem ultimately about perspective, your perspective on hope and what we can make of it! That final line is so well said, great work!
