sky

(of lovers)

By Sara Published about a year ago 1 min read

the stars would bleed

when i brought you ‘round

to lay with me

under

but they kept their eyes open.

the moon would cry

when i threaded my fingers

into your web of words

in and through

but she lit the sky on fire.

the owls wailed and the trees rustled

and the night held me

as i held you.

but we never saw

the light of day

because the sun refused

to shine

on our tangled bodies

that burned.
