before

(the storm)

By Sara Published about a year ago 1 min read

it was never calm

only in the storm,

when i stood in your eye

and the white waves

of your silver mouth

frothed at the edges.

it was never quiet

only in the screams

of your thunder

that shook my body

l i g h t n i n g b o l t s.

it was never warm

only in the shelter

of your indifference

that whispered in the wind

and something in me swayed.

it was never you.

it was my love for angry waves,

that swallow your breath,

for winds that carry you away.

i did not survive you.

i survived myself

that needed to go storm chasing.
