Speech is silver so they say,

In silence there's another

Load of metal for to weigh,

Ever treasured greater.

Never fail to listen to

Certainty of quiet tone.

Exalt in silence golden.

I haven’t heard that opening line in so long. Thoughtful work Raymond. I’m sorry I had not read your entries earlier as they are unique ones. I’ve been on and off Vocal and reading only here and there, but glad to have read these pieces now! 😊👍

I’d never thought about the other half of “silence is golden” before. You present such a clear message in so few words, and when I “Ever treasured greater” I knew exactly where you were going 👏🏾

The quiet tone is certainly where the wisdom be. Excellent work ♥️

  • I've heard of silence being golden but never speech being silver. That was so fascinating! Loved your Acrostic!

There was a great TED talk by a sound expert on the value of complete silence. Apparently we live in the world so full of sound that at most we spend 6 min a day in relative silence. And it is absolutely essential for our own well-being.

Silence is golden, indeed. Lovely poem and beautiful photo.

Sometimes it is better to say nothing and be quiet rather than start a whole issue.
