Sometimes I hear you whispering,
A tiny whistle in the dead of night.
Sometimes you do not appear,
Yet I know you are still near.
A ceiling full of sparkling wonder,
You’re the main attraction.
Your children shimmering above me,
Do not always like to surface.
The skies so dark without you here,
And listen to the words I always fear.
If there is Earth, shining on its axis,
You have been there, spinning on your own.
As long as time itself, you’ve been in the background.
Some things do not change at all,
Like nature from this planet.
And like those objects set in nature,
You’ve always stayed a constant.
You do not glow as the sun may do,
But you are just as important.
For centuries they look to you dear Lunar
And humans like to celebrate.
Their myths and stories told,
From times they have grown old.
Creatures, cycles, eclipses too,
Have painted you in beautiful light.
I speak to you tonight dear Lunar,
I talk to you alone.
When I gaze upon you, when day is finally done,
I see you one Lunar,
Your sliver shimmering wonder.
