silver lining facade

A piece reflecting on my struggles with an eating disorder.

By Zoë BartonoviPublished 5 years ago 1 min read

The look on her face seemed eager and bright,

Her brown eyes a portal to a compelling life.

She says she’s alright.

Oh aren’t you so cool and such a delight,

A sliver lining facade that fades out of sight.

The spark flickers but fails to ignite.

No one knows she has lost her appetite.

Today, tomorrow, yesterday, tonight.

Fight or flight or just give up?

It feels so good, girl you’re so tight.

The body is caliginous but outside is light,

Same square room,

Walls stark white.

Don’t go out that door,

The feeling will bite.

Her time had come,

Mother goodnight.
