Silent Longing

When Two Hearts Fall in Love's Gaze

By Uma Shankar SharmaPublished 3 years ago 1 min read

In silence they stand, their eyes ablaze with fire,

Two introverted hearts, struck by love's desire,

Neither knowing how to speak what's in their heart,

Afraid to shatter this moment, to let it fall apart.

Their gazes meet, a bond forms beyond words,

A deep understanding, as their thoughts converge,

But still they stand, too timid to take a step,

Hoping that the other will make the first request.

They've known each other for just a fleeting while,

But already they feel that spark, that smile,

That warms their heart and stirs their soul,

A connection so real, so deep, so whole.

Yet still they hesitate, unsure of what to do,

Afraid that if they speak up, it'll all fall through,

So they bask in the silence, the comfort it brings,

As they wait for the other, to confess their feelings.

The tension mounts, the air electric with anticipation,

As they stand, lost in thought, their hearts full of adoration,

But still they stay, too shy to make a move,

To risk rejection, and let their love groove

So they stand, lost in the moment, unable to speak,

Two introverts in love, their hearts full and meek,

Waiting for the other, to take the leap of faith,

To break the silence, to make this moment great.
