SILENCE

Noise Becomes Peace

The rain comes heavy,

pounding the roof, the leaves, the earth,

filling the air with a rhythm only I understand.

The stream rushes,

water falls from the roof in thick sheets,

wildlife stirs in the distance,

the wind rises and fades,

but nothing is loud.

I sit with my head tilted back,

eyes closed,

breathing in the weight of the sky.

No one understands when I say

this is silence.

I don’t understand it either.

But here, surrounded by the storm,

I feel it,

deep, still, endless, silence.

Aww, I feel you! Love your poem especially these lines: "But here, surrounded by the storm, I feel it, deep, still, endless, silence." - the peace in between these words 🤍
