He tried ending us without a sound.

He tried ending us without a sound.

His message never came, only his absence.

His message never came, only his absence.

His absence came without a sound.

The only message: Ending us. He never tried.

Silence was easier than hearing my heart break.

Silence was easier than hearing my heart break.

Distance was better than standing in the damage.

Distance was better than standing in the damage.

My heart break was better than, easier than standing.

Hearing silence in the distance was damage.

I kept rereading nothing, hoping it would say more.

I kept rereading nothing, hoping it would say more.

Mistook his cowardice for a brokenness in me.

Mistook his cowardice for a brokenness in me.

I kept rereading his cowardice for a brokenness.

Mistook hoping. Nothing in me would say more.

Came hoping he would say more than damage.

Kept rereading his sound in the distance.

His hearing never tried without cowardice.

I mistook my absence for nothing better than brokenness.

The only easier message in me was heart break.

A standing silence was ending us.
