Challenge:

‘Write an acrostic poem using the word 'SILENCE.’

Note: You can read my poem as ‘stand alone.’

However, the two interlinked poems are ‘Silence 1: Black’ and ‘Silence 2: Life.’

Reading in order, ‘Silence 1: Black’ then ‘Silence 2: Life,’ will provide the transitional context.

I will provide a link at the end of each poem's flip side.

Dedication: to the SILENT epidemic of male victims of intimate partner family and domestic violence.

*

Silence. Violence. Sensory deprivation no longer. Beyond survival, to bear witness. Mindfully reemerging

Into the

Light. Life.

Evolution is measured. Appreciating when he desires silence or solitude, it is by choice.

Now, his senses are reawakening. Today he rediscovers

Colours are vibrant!

Embraced with gratitude.

Ah, a hopeful cry to those who still suffer. Reemerging, but sense that hesitation to step into the light. The evolution seems to be a different kind of metamorphosis, and recenters into the color of gratitude! Excellent!

This. one radiated hope with your line, "Colours are vibrant." Great motivational message!!!❤️❤️💕

  • Oh wow, this had such a positive ring to it! Wonderful job!

Pauline, sorry it took me all day to get to the second acrostic, but I finally did and am so impressed how you include abused men in your work. You probably know better than I do, but it must be a robust, albeit uncharted number. I have always championed my girlfriends who have been victims, and I have also be subject to verbal abuse and some physical, but quickly left the relationship. Your work is so deep and powerful, keep championing peaceful relationships!

Read both. Very well stated, and an important topic. Well done.
