They say "be patient"
They say "wait your turn"
They tell us we should listen although; they never said what we'd learn.
They told us it would be difficult and that the journeys worth we shall earn.
That the grass is green and in between , if we follow some words and be good.
They never said it would cost us sanity or that the things we want most are tainted.
They never told us that if we got too proud , others would seek to hate us.
They never said INDIVIDUALITY was something we all had to embrace.
Instead, they made us stand in line and know our wretched place.
We were picked off; one by one.
Sold like cattle without the price tags.
Left for slaughter for whomever chose to deal the first blows.
Taking us, piece by glorified piece.
Until nothing left of our personal selves was left to show.
They were martyrs on paper...
They told us if we let them win, we'd never reap the benefits of destiny.
They told us if we fought hard enough, sacrifices were bound to be forever known.
They told us "give your life to him and he'll make it worth it in the end"
Though, they failed to mention, upon the retention, that all that glitters is not gold.
So, we were stupid as kids and even worse as adults.
We fought wars for the sake of others whilst condemning ourselves to begin.
We were mothers and fathers, sisters and brothers, teachers and demons all the same.
Yet, we all struggled as common.
Beaten as ordinary.
Chucked to society.
Left to bleed for the masses.
Did they even care?
Do we even care?
