Domestic chains burned away
The spirit of the wild,
Turning dreams to ash
Sprinkled upon the floor
Mixed with the dust of the day,
Awaiting their final voyage
Tossed aside for dutiful chores-
As the flowers went unwatered,
Petals browning and withering
Beneath a sun meant to destroy,
Not nourish like years passed,
Veins turned brittle,
Unable to feed limbs,
Roots no longer capable of holding
Of supplying a tortured soul-
Turning body to vessel
Holding only empty mind-
A zombie standing where a goddess
Once spoke to faithful followers,
Devoid of beauty
As blush turns to gray
The sickening shade of a life
Without purpose-
A voice once used to encourage
Sealed shut with stitches,
Blood set to dry-
Crusting lips,
A woman forgotten
Behind closed doors-
Awaiting the flames
That will take her away
And rejoin her with the remains
Of dreams she once wandered through
And moments of silent peace
She never appreciated.
