Worst time in anyone’s life A forced wedding

Shotgun Wedding

It wasn’t planned, not really,

the kind of love that starts like thunder,

fast, loud, impossible to stop once it begins.

There were eyes that met too soon,

hands that held before names were remembered,

a heart that mistook heat for forever.

It grew wild,

like weeds through concrete,

messy and alive and full of noise.

There were promises made in the dark,

words said between heartbeats,

and a silence afterward that neither could explain.

The day came sudden,

a ring, a vow, a trembling laugh,

A kind of moment that the future felt too close

No flowers could cover the fear,

no song could drown the doubt,

but still, they said yes,

because sometimes yes feels braver than truth.

Love in a shotgun wedding grows strange,

half passion, half panic,

but it is still love,

trying its best to survive the fire that made it.

And maybe that’s the lesson,

that not all growth begins perfect,

not all roots start in calm soil.

Sometimes life forces your hand,

and what blooms from chaos

becomes the truest kind of beauty,

flawed but alive,

rushed but real.

When the years settle,

and the noise of youth fades,

perhaps they’ll look back and smile,

not because it was easy,

but because it was theirs,

born of the wild moment when love refused to wait.

There is a lot of truth in your words, Marie. I have come to the conclusion that marriage, whatever it takes, is a strange arrangement.

  • A lovely story-poem, thankyou for sharing xx
