Shooting Stars
Shooting stars fall like snow,
the universe moving slow,
everything once stuck like glue,
now tearing free, ripping loose,
I’m trapped beneath its breaking pulse,
each light a dying wish.
Each one a love that’s slipped away.
My imagination runs wild tonight,
we just had our final fight,
gone the day of you and me,
no more shooting stars for me.
Once, I looked up to the sky,
those burning trails, sharp and bright,
each one a wish, a whispered plea,
each one a spark of what we used to be.
Shooting stars lit out to bless
the sky now just a bitter mess,
I reached for you, my steady hand,
just like the stars you had gone.
Now the heavens break like brittle bone,
each falling ember a crack in stone,
and I stand beneath their dying light,
small and cold,
left alone on this endless night.
My imagination runs wild tonight,
we just had our final fight,
gone the day of you and me.
No more shooting stars In the sky
Once, I looked up to the sky,
those burning trails, sharp and bright,
each one a wish, a whispered plea,
each one a spark of what we used to be.
Shooting stars all lit, and out to bless
the tangled breath, the bitter mess,
I reached for you, my steady hand,
I wanted to still be my man.
Now the heavens break like brittle bone,
each falling ember a crack in stone,
and I stand beneath their dying light,
small and cold, alone is my destiny
watching stars on this endless night.
