By George’s Girl 2025
Shifting Sands Took You Away
You stood firm,
Then the ground changed,
Grains sliding,
Beneath your feet.
Slow at first,
Then all at once,
The world opened,
And swallowed you whole.
I reached out,
Held your hand,
But time pulled harder,
Than I ever could.
Your face blurred,
As distance grew,
Your voice dimmed,
Like dying light.
Shifting sands,
Have no mercy,
No pause,
No return.
You were here,
Then gone for good,
Carried somewhere,
I cannot follow.
Still I call,
Through broken ground,
For the echo
Of who you were.

I've been writing poetry since the age of fourteen. With pen in hand, I wander through realms unseen. The pen holds power; ink reveals hidden thoughts. A poet may speak truth or weave a tale. You decide. Let pen and ink capture your mind❤️
