Stories of her Scars

By Lara AddamsPublished 5 years ago 1 min read

She had loved, lost and been consumed

At some point it was clear she must forget

move on

An entire life of longing to always get it wrong

who was she

where was she meant to be?

meant to be…

was it ever meant to be?

A single girl walking through a dark hallway with nothing but a single flame to guide her

She didn’t even know what she was looking for

perhaps it was herself

She had met so many between the sheets and yet it all ended the same way

A cold side to the bed

She had sheltered many and yet most preferred the rain

perhaps the thunder was where they all belonged

The rain always soothed her, perhaps because it echoed all that she had lost

and there was comfort in that

All to keep her company was her scars

And maybe she had to be OK with that

her scars and her stories

her thoughts and the other world inside her heart

the fantasy which she craved

her scars which consumed her

The ending, a lonely one

but she had lived

surreal poetry
