She's Got Grit

A Mother with a Load, a Truth untold

By ShamiraPublished 6 years ago 3 min read
This Song Reminds me of my Mother

" 12 Children! How on earth did your parents do it?"

"She adopted 10! No way !"

"OMG"

These are the responses I get when I tell people I'm from a large Family.

They can't believe it, they cant understand it.

I say I cant believe it myself .

My Mother works hard.

She's been through it all.

She had kids that pissed in her face.

Smiled in her face .

Tell her that they loved her and then try to burn down the house.

If shes not going to share the story to let people know all that a surrogate mothers been through.

Then I'm here to share it.

I'm here to share it.

Because even though I was adopted , to me shes the very Mother that brought me into this world

I love her and Id tell you again , shes not my Surrogate She is my Mother.

Growing up I would see my Mother go into her room, hear her cries behind the door

Because my sibling would lie in her face and the evidence is right in front of their face

She would come back out and in a strong calm voice say go to your room until I can talk to you

My Mother is Strong

She has passed down Power of Woman , but though I know I will never be strong like my Mother.

My Mother would silently cry because one of my sisters would pinch her in church and tell her that she loved her

What is wrong with that Kid

I don't know how my Mother would handle it

It makes me sad to think of all went on during those years

The calling of cops in the middle of the night,

The tension that built with in the walls of our house

My siblings tried to ruin it

It was like that didnt give a rip

My Mother was strong because their behaviours were outrages

We schooled at Home where I'm thankful to God I had the best education,

My Mother is strong

We were given all the tools we needed to excel

We could be anything

My mother had faith in us like you wouldn't believe

But not all of us were like those demon kids out of 12 at least 6 of us were behaved

My Mother is strong

Shes been through it all trying to cope after all the distress

After my brother stole their retirements by his disruptive behaviour

He needed some help so my Parents took from their retirements and laid the deed down upon their house

They could have unadopted

Gave us back to the government

But they didn't

They didn't

They Didn't

Because my Mother is strong

I don't know how she did it, she says "by the grace of God" She went through it.

My Mother has had anxiety

My Mother has been through Depression

My mother has hit a brick wall

ans called for a gun

My Mother was in the deepest part of life and she still fed her children

She still loved her kids

She would do anything for her kids

She would visit them in jail

Send Medicine if they were sick

Their grown now

But those kids can't be around because they threatened to kill

My Mother is strong

Yet she loves

Yet she lives

She is my Wonder Woman

My Hero

My Angel

She My is my motivator

She is My Mother

Im thankful to God those days are over

My Mother is so much happier

She serves in the Community

To our Veterans

To her Church

The Color purple makes her happy

I love to hear her laugh now

My oldest sister and I are the best of friends

My Mother has a loving husband and good kids left by her side

but it took a lot

It almost took the breath of her

But my Mother got fire

My Mother never tires

My Mothers Got Grit

My Mother is My Empowered Woman

Who am I?

I’m that little girl grown to be woman, with a mind to inspire. I am not your average day thinker for I think in color and vibrancy. I hear noise as music. I see people as walking instruments. We all have something special. Listen
