One day
You’ll remember
The girl
You used to know
***
She sat
In your chair
Like it was
Her own
***
She was bold
She was fire
Unstoppable
Desired
***
You wanted her
They wanted her
Her attention
Her words
Her gestures
***
But she wasn’t yours
She wasn’t theirs
She was no one’s
She belonged to the city
***
And then
One day
She left
And the world was hers
***
It wasn’t long
Before she was
Discovered
***
She was loved
She was desired
***
This time
She gave in
This time
She stayed.
***
She had people
To love her
To desire
To listen
To tame her fire
***
But today
She’s back
And she belongs
To the city
***
She walks around
With her head high
She’s in power
***
Just for a moment
She’s back
She’s on fire
***
Funny thing
Being loved?
Desired?
***
She’s walking alone
And that’s her power.
