She felt exhausted, used up, spent
Tired of the fight, until she discovered,
That she held a super power within
This knowledge helping her recover.
***
Where once she felt like a dying star
In a brightly lit but still living universe,
She now shines her glorious smile
As she is no longer locked in a curse.
***
She delved deeply within her very soul
Travelling through too many dark lands,
Searching diligently for her own self love
Never will the darkness thwart her plans.
***
After traversing through these dark lands
She would return with her light shining,
As if she’d just had the best time of her life
Her lessons proving to be a silver lining.
***
She learnt that darkness can be a friend
Teaching a girl how to survive on her own,
Absolutely nothing to fear, so much to gain
Once she learnt to withstand being alone.

My first love is poetry — it’s like a desperate need to write, to free up space in my mind, to escape the constant noise in my head. Most of the time the poems write themselves — I’m just the conduit holding the metaphorical pen.
