She Is The Reason The Lord of The Underworld Weeps

As he hides from her sight

She can feel the Underworld as it trembles

As it’s Lord weeps whenever he hears her name,

He fears her love, her laughter, her strength

As he realises she cannot be hurt by his flame.

***

Hers is not a Soul that he wants to reap

As he knows that’s where dragons go to die,

She tenders them with her loving care

Weeping heavily as they say goodbye.

***

The Lord of the Underworld hides in his den

Hoping she’ll move on, not decide to stay,

He doesn’t realise but he has nothing to fear

She won’t participate in the games he plays.

***

He thinks she will one day learn the meaning

Of the pain and heartache she’ll find down there,

If she heard him make this boast, she would laugh

Knowing him as a annoyance, not one to scare.

***

She could teach him a lesson or two on pain

Her Soul aches terribly as it silently screams,

She has birthed the ocean in her salty tears

Conquering nightmares, grieving her dreams.

***

The Lord of the Underworld will never realise

That her world has battered and taken a toll,

She’s suffered devastating loss and pain

To her, Hell is just an everyday morning stroll.

About the Creator

Colleen Millsteed

My first love is poetry — it’s like a desperate need to write, to free up space in my mind, to escape the constant noise in my head. Most of the time the poems write themselves — I’m just the conduit holding the metaphorical pen.
