She Came in Through a Window

An Inner Sonnet

She came in through a window in my luck;

It had to be good given her beauty,

Although both profound lust and love had struck

An inner string of bottomless duty.

I wish that it had been the leading door

Where one can see reality’s disguise,

Wherefrom presents the predictable score,

Erect until its imminent demise.

A different window could have sufficed;

Tall and large like Juliet’s balcony.

Unluckily, love can also be priced

As it fatefully leads to agony.

O Athena, wherever you await!

Let your wisdom find love’s hidden floodgate!

-----

Dedicated to Athena, my new better half, although I feel like a third, when she always treats me as if I was two thirds.
