Shattered Pieces of a Man

I’m just a whale out of water

A bird without a sky

I can’t break these chains

I can’t ease these pains

I’m losing touch with reality

And no one can tell me why.

Yesterday was such a sunny day

The whole world seemed so clear

But suddenly like a storm at sea

Something changed the inner me

I had completely lost my way.

Overcome with fear, I didn’t want to be here

My sky has turned black, the sunlight gone

You’d abandoned me once more

The torment grew much greater, but the loving oh-so-few

I’ve changed my spots so many times to regain the love we knew

To try and make it work just like before.

You’ve watched me getting weaker,

Growing into lesser of a man

I’ve lost my way, wandered from the track

And I now see there is no going back

But I see no future either

Just the shattered pieces of a man.
