Pain was gradually eroding my heart.

Pain was gradually killing my health.

My brain grew bored of pondering.

I wish he knew he was ruining my health.

He was going to let me be.

He had high aspirations.

I was his wife.

But my marriage was shattered.

Life there was very painful.

I was like a victim.

My husband's maid.

Dealing with his demands was too much.

I became exhausted.

He was a source of pain in my life.

He transformed me into a housemaid.

He was often yelling at me.

He was constantly scrutinizing my movements.

He was checking to see if my chores were excellent.

I realized that I was no longer his wife.

He wanted a maid.

Running away was the only choice.

The only way to reclaim my life.

The only way to focus on my life.

I have found peace since I ran.

Gloria, may I ask if the character is yourself or imaginary? I know many women ( and men) relate to the feeling of being `kept´ rather than loved. Is there a reason you choose to use periods when you write? I really feel you have a lot to offer and wonder if you have explored a type of poetry known as " prose" or " freestyle"? I honor your candor.
