Shared Feathers
Desire Of Flight And Freedom

If only one night, we could change up our stations
I’d fly far away, way up, beyond the trees
Discover first hand, the unseen, treasured places
If only one time, you would gift me your wings
In return, I would gift you a wish of your own
No restrictions or limits on what it might be
If it’s possible to see the seeds you have sewn
Seeds that with wings would finally make me free
To fly o’re the ocean and dip through the valleys
Up into the clouds with the turn of a wing
To feel that freedom would make my soul happy
We would sit on the branches and together we’d sing
But the dark in my heart gives you pause to surrender
The deeds I have done you have witnessed firsthand
Both human and crow recognize it as murder
Guilty as sin, in the darkness, I stand
My being remains flesh, my sentence withstanding
The seeds I have sewn put me here, in this cell
If not for the visits with you, on this landing
These years behind bars would have been more like hell

This is a spectacular poem, Kelli! I soared with you into the heady freedom of the skies and then crashed back down to reality. This deserves Top Story!
Beautiful Words and love the picture, ty for sharing xx
Well-wrought! Brought to mind this line: "Interruptions are the ravens which bring food to the recluse." -Friedrich Nietzsche, "Human, All Too Human"
This is really good. I wasn't expecting the turn it took, but I liked it. We all want freedom in the end. Well done.
