Shards of Redemption

A Reflective Poem

By Michelle Liew Tsui-LinPublished 12 months ago Updated 12 months ago 1 min read

This poem is for Mikeydred's bouke de vries challenge.

We rise through brokenness.  Michelle Liew

******************************************

Whole, yet delicate, I stood in the light,

A vessel with purpose, pure and bright,

But time, unyielding, carved its trace,

And left me broken, a shattered grace

********************************************

Fragments scattered, useless and bare

Echoes of pride hung in the air

What use is beauty, torn apart?

An empty shell, a ruptured heart.

********************************************

Yet hands, unseen, with wisdom and grace

With care they softened shards displaced

Gold and silver caressed each seam

Turning my angst into a dream

********************************************

Now I gleam with cracks no more,

A mosaic of loss, its beauty endured.

For brokenness tells a story true

Of strength regain, of faith renewed

********************************************

Through fine cracks flow a radiant thread

A testament to wounds that bled

From shattered to whole, a journey sublime,

Through tests of time, I rise, divine.

Gorgeous work- in the turns of phrase as well as the profound theme! I love the allusions to Kintsugi pottery- a subject I've studied a bit, and love the metaphorical depth of.
