Shadow Kissed

Damage was dealt

By Mercedes ChavezPublished about a year ago 1 min read

Forged in hell fire

Long before you stepped into my life

A force to be reckoned with

I greeted darkness like an old friend

Pain? I was already immune to it

Then one day, there you were

Light, warmth, like nothing I had ever felt before

Still cautious, I kept my walls up

But then your laugh became my favorite thing

Your touch silenced the demons lurking beneath my flesh

Your light healed the darkness in me

I allowed myself to be vulnerable with you

If I had known the pain you would inflict upon me

I would have remained in the darkness... alone

But how could I ever regret the beauty of the light you gave me?

I don't think I ever will regret it

But the lips that promised me always and forever

Are the same lips that left my body bruised with shadow kisses

Damaged dealt into my soul

Where the wounds will bleed until my last breath
