A Short Poem

By Hugo GerwatPublished 8 years ago 1 min read
Salzburg (2017)

She speaks softly, whispering in my ear,

I ignore her, she says everything I fear,

She's always near, creeping slowly,

I can feel her crawling up my back,

Hands round my neck, cold touch,

My skin freezes, but she's relinquishing,

Do you have what you want?

What did you take from me?

She's always there, no one will ever see her,

She's coming for you, she's coming for me,

There's no escaping, fates not mistaken,

So where will you go? Where will you run?

Time can go very slow, but you've got to hurry up,

They're ticking away, today is your day,

Just take her hand, and let her take you away,

It's never too soon, it's never too late,

It's right on time, don't you even hesitate,

She's coming for you, she's coming for me,

Don't you live with guilt, don't you ever plead,

She's coming for you, she's coming for me,

Don't you ever forget it, or you'll never be set free.
