Sepia

Look over here

Ignore the faded gray childhood

Evade the vicious crimson adolescence

Dismiss the glistening gold summer days and velvet navy nights in love

Peel back the melting layers

from luscious deep purple

to milky lavender

to white

to

nothing

look

See me now

I am green I am brown

The most massive of trees

Unyielding one moment

Swaying the next

Compliant as brown

Pervasive as yellow

Shocking as fuchsia

Fluctuating like dark teal oceans

I am the blackest of blacks

a hole in the universe

no one can find

I am blue

I am buoyant

I am pink

I am frivolous

I am red-orange and burning

a torpedo a daisy a bone dry tsunami

I grow strong while I wither

beige like the sand
