We place sentries at the gates of Hell

We place angels at the gates of Heaven

When I died, which gate I could not tell

I closed my eyes and counted to seven

I had much need to be transported to Heaven

Being very unlucky, I heard the bells of Hell

Hell's bells sounded so unholy, in a faint I fell

A fire breathing dragon bade me look, hell's bells

Such horrors revealed to me, my life lived not well

I cringed, unlike Scrooge, this was no second chance

I was stuck in purgatory, everlasting unholy knell

Oh what a prison I forged, fabricated purely by my life

Erected by the selfish whims I had chosen, being unkind

No use lamenting. The thing is done, life is now strife

What is Hell but an enslaved conscience within our minds!

LIVE WELL! Because, well, only time will tell.

I love this piece, it really speaks volumes about you! How one should live their life to the fullest and have no regrets because you never know how it will end. I love the tale you wove and the sincerity in the narrators voice! I often think you should put all these classic pieces and even some that Vocal won't let you publish into a book. Make it a series of poems that are meaner to inspire and be thought provoking!
