Send My Greetings
A poem inspired by "The Snows Of New York" by Chris de Burgh

The summertime,
was a magical time,
when the hot and teeming city streets -
glittered as if they were paved with gold.
In the hot summer sun,
rainbow sparkles,
from sun rays,
came from the millions of windows,
all around the isle of Manhattan -
in New York City.
When the winter came,
there was a fantasy land,
of ice and snow
and silent footprints.
Past bridges that stood like sentinels,
as gentle white snowflakes,
from the sky fell.
You and I
and the snows of New York.
Quietly our shadows slid,
through this frozen wonderland,
where the snow in Central Park,
was pure and pristine
and untouched.
Like a frozen oasis,
in the midst of a busy city,
far from the traffic noise,
far from the crowds,
no shoppers came here -
as Christmas approached.
It was as if the birds and the squirrels,
were gathering bits and pieces,
to decorate the evergreens in the park.
As we walked it seemed,
snow angels followed along
and we could dance along the paths,
to music made in our minds.
Smile for smile,
as the snow would pile up,
some hazy winter sun,
would create shadows and light
and it seemed as if wood nymphs -
were flittering among the sun rays.
Now far from it all,
I remember and smile.
So if you are walking,
through our wonderland this year,
dancing along
and drifting through the snow,
remember me
and send my greetings -
to the snows of New York.
