Self Portrait

Day 32/365

By Ellie HoovsPublished 12 months ago 1 min read

The most beautiful self portraits

I have ever made

are the ones painted

in the softest of pink skin

that freckles in the sunlight

across a tiny nose

under wide

toddler

eyes

they are the ones

whose tiny hands

grow

and take up a form of art

like a talisman

that honors the family crest.

they are the ones caught

in between fits

of giggles

and defying sleep

that freeze time

like a polaroid

capturing

the likeness of me

reflected

perfectly

smudged only

by the stickiness of fruit snacks.
