self love

♥️

By angela hepworthPublished 4 months ago 1 min read

awakened from an eternity of slumber

basking in the light of a vibrant flame

the day has come where I have risen

no longer merely existing

dwelling in the silence of my abode

my shame is a raging river within me

endlessly, it flows

catching rocks on its venture down

but no longer will it control my hand

I find myself free falling

into a pit of a world made anew

by that flickering candle in the wind

still burning bright all the same

Thank you so much for reading :)

I’m sorry I haven’t been on here as much, reading and writing and interacting with everyone’s work as much as I’d like to. Life has been hard and weird lately, but I’m now newly determined to pull myself out of all this fear and worry and doubt, at least for a little while, and propel myself forward.

Love you guys, and hope you’re doing well ♥️

I love how this reads as like a gasp for breath after being weighed down by life for so long. No longer merely existing. Such freedom to be able to say a line like this. I can almost experience it through you. "Catching rocks on its venture down' absolutely love the imagery here. I could feel the weight of this in action. Leaving us with the flickering light in the wind. Especially still burning bright. That was a wonderful experience you've brought us through. Outstanding work Angela. 🤗❤️

The writer returns! The poem speaks to that doesn't it?

I hope you are okay, Angela. Surely you are meant to live, not simply exist❣

  • You are a good writer and I challenge you to do more than poetry. I really enjoyed reading your reviews. Editorials are more sophisticated than brevity poems. Anyway, thanks for sharing, but I really don't think poetry is helping this website.

-still burning bright all the same- 🤩 Nice note to end on! And as always, take care of you first. We can't do much when our inner world begs for attention.

  • A strong comeback Angela 🥰 I’ve also been missing for such a long time, so much happening that Vocal has to be neglected. Hoping that can change back again!
