Carpe Diem
Seizing a nine to five
Like a lemming
Dosed in yellow
Projecting perfection
outwards
From pink houses
To this I dissent
And instead
Burn the candle wax
Feel the blood pump
Goosebumps down the back
Breath on a neck
Dancing in the shadows
With naught but the ghosts
And the painters
And poets
The dirty
The downtrodden
And those
Who know
Only under veiled darkness
Can one see clearly
Seize the night
Carpe Noctem

As someone who writes at night - This was GORGEOUS!! Excellently done Matthew!
This has a wonderful ebb and flow to it, Matthew. Love the message <3
Captivating poem!!!
I sense someone’s a night owl! This was excellent, Matthew! Really masterfully done! Everything after “I dissent” layered so well to create such a rich and striking contrast
Carpe it all...nightum, dayum and noctem. 😍🤣
I love the way you ended this! 🌟
Beautiful tonal shifts here.
