Seeing Red

What I do see...

Tell me I'm wrong...

Tell me, this isn't all‐

My eyes must be lying to me, again

and my mind playing tricks again

but if that, then...

what have I been chasing all this time?...

What was there to believe in this...

or any matter?...

because‐

absence, is becoming more and more what I prefer...

Between seeing red or seeing nothing at all

I'd rather the latter

Between breathing fire and breathing my last

I'd rather the latter

If either thinking what I ought not or thinking not at all

I'd rather the latter-

Must I apologize for these extremes I speak?

Between bad and good

I'd rather the latter...

obviously, but...

Between bad and nothing at all

I'd rather the latter

I prefer peace, but...

Between pain and numbness

I'd rather the latter-

Hope has fallen with the last of my tears,

now I'm only seeing red

Between seeing black, red, or nothing at all

I'd rather the last of the three...

because out of all that life has offered,

given to, and taken from me‐

I am only seeing red‐

About the Creator

Josh Morgan

Personally, writing began as a creative outlet, to be a means of processing and venting emotion, but it has become so much more. Something I want not to be just relatable, enjoyable and a good read, but to reach someone who is in need.
