See You Again

Broken Thoughts

By Mercedes ChavezPublished about a year ago 1 min read

I cannot even begin to understand how quickly time has passed

I still remember the feel of your hand in mine

The dimming light behind your eyes

I hold on dearly to every memory I have of you

The good and the bad equally

I replay our final conversations over and over again in my mind

It's all I have left to remind me of the sound of your voice

It's a daily thing for me, even when I don't mean to

I think about your smile, your laugh, your tears, your existence in my life

And how quickly, in the blink of an eye, you were gone

On the outside, I am calm and seemingly together

But inside, I am screaming, I am shouting to the heavens

It just wasn't enough time

I still need you

And a part of me has been lost since you left

There are times when I can't breathe

There are times when I just want to break down

But I keep going

I keep fighting

I do it for you

Waiting for the day that I will see you again
