See them there

Watching from a distance

By Mel WrightPublished 4 years ago 1 min read

I see you standing there with a small grin,

Talking away as you play with your bobby pin.

The world grows more silent as I watch and stare,

Lights flicker, across your eyes they glare.

My heart beats that ever bit faster,

Playing with words that I can not master.

The way your lip’s part, makes my heart grow fonder,

I need to look away, before my mind starts to wonder.

You start to walk away with your hand in theirs.

The back of my neck, stand up the hairs.

Gliding around the edge trying to find your gaze,

Getting lost within the people maze.

I stop my mind racing to the bad thoughts,

“Did I imagine them?” My heart beats with greater force.

I look up and see through a small window of bodies

Blanking out all the other hotties.

Time slows as I push my way through to you,

And as if on cue,

You turn and look at me as if you feel it too.

The connection between us, the impossible feeling

Walking closer, my heart you are stealing.

Your eyes draw me in like a loveless fool,

Sparkling like a beautiful jewel.

Rehearsing the words, in my mind they play

Molding sentences like clay.

As if it has been forever, you are finally here

In front of me, holding me near.
