I’d like to tell you how I feel
All these secrets stored inside,
To express my love for you
The love I’ve had to hide.
***
But you have up and left
Just like before,
You said you’d change
But you are gone once more.
***
All that’s left are memories
Of a happier you and me,
A photograph and a silver ring
Movie clips you took me to see.
***
But life moves forever onwards
No consideration that we part,
I will hold on to my love for you
Inside my broken heart.
***
As the days slip slowly past
I’ll keep my secrets deep within,
I’ll live with my memories
Of a love I could never win.

About the Creator
Colleen Millsteed
My first love is poetry — it’s like a desperate need to write, to free up space in my mind, to escape the constant noise in my head. Most of the time the poems write themselves — I’m just the conduit holding the metaphorical pen.
